Current Projects
The projects that we are currently developing include:
PEER SUPPORT NETWORKS
Local people have told us that they would like more one to one support from people who share their experiences. We call this peer support.
We are developing ideas for how we could develop local peer support networks and how people with support needs could be involved in running them.
These networks could include support for people who want to know more about self directed support and or want help with developing their own support plan.
PEER CHAMPIONS
These are people who are keen to support others and campaign for change.
We want to offer training and support for more people to take on these roles and receive the support they need to be effective in their work.
Training ideas include:
- Understanding your Human Rights
- Understanding self directed support
- Advocacy
- Running an effective campaign
- Negotiating and influencing skills
- Working with groups and facilitating discussions
- Presentation and communication skills
We want to encourage a wide range of people to get involved, particularly those are new to this sort of work.
Our other ideas for projects include working with local organistions and self help networks to see how access to information can be improved and how people with support needs can become more involved in developing and delivering services.
